People often tend to associate water with cleaning so when you start to talk about a waterless car wash thing it can be a confusing concept. Fact is that a waterless car wash system cleans your car every bit as well, if not better than a traditional car wash would. Let’s take a look at how it all works though.
While there is technically no water required, the waterless car wash solution contains wetting agents along with lubricants and protectants. The detergents and wetting agents combine to soften and emulsify surface grime. A specific blend of fluids and lubricants then attach a microscopic layer of protectant to the surface of your car. This protectant is extremely important and is also quite rare for traditional car washes but it provides a bonded layer or protection for any remaining abrasive that was not previously broken down by the detergents and wetting agents. This protectant will often contain cross linked polymers which is what allows it to be so effective as a car wax or a glaze. Along with the glaze ingredients you will often find a complex mixture of cleaning elements.
Emulsification is what really lifts all of the dirt out of your car provided that the solution is applied correctly. The solution really gets in there and surrounds all of the dirt molecules and then lifts them from the paint’s surface. This happens before you even start to wipe. While all of this is happening, the cross chain polymer linking process is initiated and that is what gives the shiny, highly protective glaze finish. The balance of the ingredients in the solution is what allows this all to happen so rapidly.
The best part about it all though is that it does not require extensive rubbing or buffing. The solution does all of the work for you meaning that you won’t have a sore arm or wrist after washing your car like you might with other products that require to buff the car intensively. If you have managed to follow all of the directions – which are very easy to understand – then you will see water beading off of your car if it comes in contact with it.
It might sound a bit complicated with many big words floating around there but that is all to help you to get a better understanding of how the product works. In the end you will probably appreciate having a little information about the way that it works but ultimately just be glad that it does work as well as it does and forget about all of the complicated ingredients, complex balances and mixtures of chemicals. If you wanted to think about all of that every day you probably would have enrolled in a science class. You are interested in the waterless car wash for one main reason – you want a simple way to wash your car that leaves it looking great for weeks to come.
